Creative Commsisions

I undertake selected commissions of large and small scale textiles art including stage backdrops, banners, decor and interior furnishings.

the travelling barn

at Fire in the Mountain Festival 2024

I created this bespoke commission in collaboration with Shelley Mould as part of the decor team for the second year. This stage hosts some of the biggest acts that appear at the festival as well as singing workshops during the day.

Shelley and I used applique and sculptural textiles techniques alongside applique to create this 100% upcycled backdrop- included were many old curtains, offcuts from clothing patterns, and fluffy and gauzy bits from our personal collections.

Pictured here are the musical performances of Lon Dubh and Rozi Plain.

Dolly (and DOT)

Dolls for representation

After making myself a special doll (called Dot) over Christmas 2022- A friend commissioned me to create a doll as a special gift for her friend's daughter. She was requested to have a specific skin tone and long hair. If you scroll through the pictures here, you can see her alongside Dot who has white hair. Dolly was the name given to the doll by the child she was given to.

Dolly is weighted with special glass sand used for weighted blankets so that she has some gravity to her and I added wool hair, handmade corduroy dungarees and a bespoke wool jumper made from a jumper that had belonged to my grandmother.

Both Dot and Dolly were created to give representation. Dot is non-binary and can help people to get familiar with using they/them pronouns for individuals and Dolly was created as a gift to a child with mixed heritage so that she has a doll that has a similar skin tone to some of her family.

I absolutely loved giving life to these little characters and theyreally feel like they have their own characters and spirits- get in touch below if there's a doll you'd like me to create for you!

Love and Nature banner

For Extinction Rebellion peaceful protest April 2023

I offered to make a banner for an organising group with Extinction Rebellion and they requested this quote from Satish Kumar. I have hand carved lino stamps for the alphabet meaning that I can print any text requested in 2 different sizes.

The banner has holes on either side for bamboo canes to go in so that it can be held aloft. The plant and the heart on the side is appliqued on.

The Lawn STage

at Fire in the Mountain Festival 2023

I created this bespoke commission as part of the decor team. This stage is used during the day for mostly folk musicians at this legendary small festival in the Welsh mountains.

This was made from 100% upcycled material mostly sourced from Proper Job re-cycling centre. Alongside scraps from my own store. I also used cycanotype photographic process  to create the effect of the Carrot leaves.

This backdrop was then featured later that summer on the Land Skills Fair main stage.

The Soma Tent

Decoration for the contact improvisation space at Buddhafield 2024

I was invited to decorate the SOMA tent this year. It was a last minute invtation and I did not know what the space would be like so I showed up on site and had 2 days to create something with the materials I had brought (a pair of curtains from a charity shop and bags of other scraps from other projects).

I used wood from the site and off cuts of the carpet used in the space to create this large flower installation with bloom bunting and an other worldly vibe. It was a great create challenge to use whatever materials I had on hand and I loved. Thanks to the Soma team for inviting me!
